| I have been searching for a good beginner's embroidery book for a while now, and this has fit the bill. I don't understand the complaints about it not having everything in the book as a project, however. You can recreate ANY of the designs in the book, not just the projects, with tracing paper or a photocopier. However, the listed projects are well-designed, very adorable, and worth trying. My favorite is the Cafe Apron, and the Sweet Dreams Baby Pillow is something I'm looking forward to trying soon. It's just precious. I like that this book doesn't hand-hold your way through everything, it displays (and explains) the stitch types and labels which stitches you need to use on everything, and then lets you go for it. The author also lists colors of floss, which I found helpful, but you can get creative with it. I love her designs, and I'd definitely recommend this book. |
