Good premise, but too hokey
|
| I like the premise of this novel: a vampire school and hot vampire romance. I even give the authors kudos for making the sexual references hotter than most young adult publishers dare to. However, the language was way too juvenile, even for a young adult novel. It was like the authors were trying too hard to show us they know how teenagers talk nowadays. Also, the characters had the corniest three-musketeers type of dialogue. It was kind of cringeworthy, especially the cheesy "you're right, twin" and "oh no, you're right, twin" banter between Shaunee and Erin. At times, it felt like I was reading the script for an episode of Barney and Friends. I wish the writers hadn't dumbed down the language. But it was still enjoyable to a certain degree and I think a lot of people will end up liking this book and the series. |
