♥♥♥♥♥ Not as good as the others in the series.
I loved the first three books of the Bridgerton series and was looking forward to this installment. Since I'm new to Ms. Quinn's novels, I was able to read the books back to back without having to wait for a new novel. Thus, the previous novels were still quite fresh in my mind. Unfortunately, I was also able to remember a lot of the language from the previous novels. Much of it seemed repetitive.

We saw glimpses of Colin, this story's hero, in the first three novels. I was eagerly anticipating his story because he was so adorable in the other books. He was charming, fun-loving and confident. Unfortunately, by the time we get to this novel, he has lost his charm. He is dissatisfied with his life and his accomplishments and he takes it out on Penelope. He's tired of being known for his charm and so he becomes whiny instead. Even Penelope notices that he is not the man she fell in love with but she makes allowances for him. I agree with other reviewers who have said there's no chemistry between Penelope and Colin. The only time they seemed to interact well together was when they were physical.

I didn't mind the plot involving Lady Whistledown. I was interested in finding out about her anyway.

This is the first book in the series I had to force myself to finish.
