Unpleasant Illustrations

| While this book does contain a good selection of rhymes, I find the illustrations badly done and unpleasant to look at. I thought I was being idiosyncratic at first until my husband came to me and said, "do we have another book of nursery rhymes, the illustrations in that book really bother me for some reason." I think part of it has to do with the faces of the children which seem overly mature and adult on little bodies. My husband described it as "sexualized." So if you are a person who is sensitive to images, this might not be the book for you. Look at a range of books to see which pictures you can bear to look at 10 times a day over and over again as your child asks for another reading of three little kittens. |
