Read if desperate

The synopsis and the positive reviews for this book were compelling and I was desperate for a new author so I decided to give KH a try.
As a standalone book DWW is an okay read. And, as an intro to a series, DWW helps to set up the story and characters well. But here is where the problem starts for me. When I finished reading this book I read the reviews for the other books in this series. All of the issues and annoyances of the first book seem to be continued in the whole series. This must be KH's writing style. I guess if you enjoy reading about a heroine who always seems to know that she's about to make a bad decision but goes for it anyway then this is for you. Also various threads of the storyline carry on indefinitely when they should be resolved within the next of the series. This writing style is just irritating to me.
If you are truly desperate for a mediocre read until your favorite authors' latest is out then read KH. You might still feel that it's throwing away good money that could possibly have been spent on chocolate. |
