My first Wallflower

Because of romance publishers' typical neglect in numbering series on the covers, I bought and read this book before the other wallflower novels. It didn't lessen the enjoyment, but I wish I'd read them in order.
I loved the interaction between the two leads. Evie is so sweet but also so strong. And St. Vincent is so incredibly needy but also defiant and sensual. I wish his transformation had been foreshadowed a little better in the previous book where he was a near total villain (so maybe it was better I read this one first?). Kleypas does a great job of making us love him though and I look forward to every time this couple shows up in every subsequent book in the series.
I also love the introduction to Cam who shows up as the hero in 'Mine til Midnight' and Daisy's encounter with him was a hoot (with some steaminess as a bonus!). |
