♥♥♥♥♥ Life saving recipes
I purchased this cookbook because I had to go on a no-dairy, no-soy, no-egg diet due to the food intolerances of my baby who I am breastfeeding. I initially started trying to cook foods from scratch that I had in the past and removing the dairy/soy/egg with my own substitutions. Although this worked for a while my variety was extremely limited as I did not know how to substitute ingredients in baked goods and/or more complicated recipes. This cookbook has provided a great source of help and inspiration. The recipes are quite good and you no longer feel deprived because there are recipes for everything from appetizers and snacks to desserts. I particularly like the baked goods, although I did have to experiment a bit altering cooking times and at times adding a bit more baking powder in order to get things just right (which I believe has something to do with my oven not the recipes). The book has been extremely helpful for my family as we can continue to eat together and have good healthy food. I was even able to have a great chocolate cake for my birthday--something I thought I would not have until after my baby stopped breastfeeding. One thing to keep in mind is that if you are not a cook (which I am not) it will take time to feel more comfortable creating the recipes as the recipes are not always simple. However, the end product is well worth it. Also note that some of the necessary ingredients will likely not be readily available in a standard grocery store and you will need to head to the health food store or a store like Whole Foods to get several of the ingredients. I would recommend this book and have to my daughter's pediatrician in the event there are other parents in my position.
