♥♥♥♥♥ Great Book on this American Staple
I loved this book! When I saw a news article about it, I immediately ordered it. No small option since I live in Mexico City, Mexico. I had to order it and have it sent by courier ( I don't do this often). It was very entertaining and I was laughing alot.

She is a talented writer. I wished it had given better references to food origins such as:

1) All Chile peppers are from Mexico.
2) Tomatoes are from Mexico.
3) Pasta is from China! (Imagine Italian food without tomatoes or pasta)

Although Mexicali is the capital of Chinese food here in Mexico thier contribution to this country is large. After the Chinese exclusion act many Chinese came to Mexico. The Chinese basically created the Mexican wine/brandy region in Ensenada (which is becoming a mini Napa Valley) and food growing regions in Mexicali (both former deserts)

In Guadalajara in the 2nd largest market in Latin America they have food booths that sell a fusion of Mexican and Chinese food.

Almost all soy sauce here has sliced jalapenos in it.

The American Chinese food is not so great here, but we have exceptions. Here in the capital we have "HUNAN" a very upscale restuarant that for 2 people with wine is about 150.00 US dollars! Its good, but not as good as some of the restuarants that she writes about, or that I know from my native San Francisco.
