| French is an easy language to mangle because the letters of a word are often silent, or they are pronounced quite differently from English. Often I just want to read and know that I'm 'hearing' the words correctly. This book is great in that respect because it presents, on each page, new French vocabulary accompanied by an intelligible phonetic spelling. What good is a vocabulary when you can't sound it out accurately? This book addresses that. It's organized well, too, and the CDs make sure you hear what French is supposed to sound like. All in all, it's a great package. |
