Colie's Summer
|
Colie has never fit in with kids her age even after she lost weight and her mom became Kiki Sparks. For a summer she is forced to stay with her eccentric aunt Mira. Colie doesn't expect to make friends in North Carolina, but by some chance she gets a job at the "Last Chance Bar and Grill". With Morgan and Isabel working with her they show her that she can be comfortable with herself and how she can show her confidence. She also finds even though those who already knew her aren't going to change their views her new friends see her for who she is.
I really enjoyed this book. For how long I have been reading Young Adult Literature it's not very often that I find a topic dealing with how weight loss can affect a person and those she goes to school with. This is the first book I have read from Sarah Dessen, but I would read more books written by her.
