....And I'm glad to see them. Oh, don't get me wrong; Lisa's other books, a "non-series" about various girl lawyers in Philly, are great. But, Bennie and her girls are what we depend on Lisa for. Five years is too long to wait, but the wait was worth it.
In this superb page-turner, Mary is once again the star of the show. OK, no plot spoilers, but our girl has quite a ride. And, as always, she brings her parents along; they're one of Lisa's greatest creations, and the kind of family EVERY kid should have. Naturally, Mary has trouble listening to instructions, and gets herself in hot water, but...you'll have to read it without me ruining it for you. Judy makes a strong showing, but my imaginary heartthrob, Anne, gets only a cameo. Oh, Murphy, my love, tell Lisa to give you a bigger part!!! "A redhead is a blonde with poor impulse control". Great Line!!!
One question is; which girl is "Lisa"? Bennie is the obvious answer, certainly in physical appearance, but Bennie, Mary, and Lisa are all blonde Italian girls. And Lisa has said that she modeled Mr. DiNunzio after her Dad, Frank Scottoline, may he rest in peace. Regardless, this is a great book by one of the two great authors of "lawyer books" we have today. [Sheldon Siegel is beyond fabulous]. Don't fail to read it!! |
