♥♥♥♥♥ 3.5 STARS......GOOD READ...............
Jamie Kellogg thinks that she may have finally found her Prince Charming. While drowning her sorrows in a local bar over her married boyfriend, she meets the handsome and gregarious Brad Fisher....who convinces her, after a night of passion, to throw caution to the wind and take to the road seeking adventure. So the two do just that...with the intent being to eventually end up seeing Brad's young son, who lives with his ex-wife. It is during the roadtrip, however, that Jamie finds out exactly how naive she has been. That Brad Fisher is nothing like he professed to be...and that she has now become an unwilling accomplice to burglary, murder....and quite possibly a whole host of others. What she does know now is that Brad is headed to Mad River Road, to exact his own revenge. Additionally, Jamie herself has become a victim...is there anything that she can do to redeem herself, and perhaps turn this entire nightmare around?
Read on, to see what happens. 3.5 stars only, for me, however; the lead characters do nothing to endear themselves (with the possible exception of Lily), and Jamie's naivete can quite easily be viewed as mere stupidity. The storyline is strong throughout, however...until the end. To me, there was such a tremendous buildup, that the end was sort of a fizzle...rather than the resounding bang that I'd expected. A good read, nevertheless.
