Feel-good read but not very practical

This is a good book to read if you want a little bit of inspiration. But it won't actually tell you how to become a millionaire. It doesn't really even tell you any "secrets". Part of the reason the book is insightful is because the so-called secrets are really just common sense things that you don't often think about.
I read this book, enjoyed it, and then went on with my life. If you truly want to be rich, there's a very simple formula. It's not very sexy, but the reality is: SPEND LESS THAN YOU EARN. Most people acquire wealth by increasing their earnings and decreasing their consumption. For one, you can start by saving the $10.00 you would spend on this book. Check the book out from your local library (free) and then use that $10.00 to buy a share of stock.
A lot of wealthy people don't live glamourous lives, but while they are driving their 10 year old Honda to Target, their money is stockpiled in an investment fund, earning more money for them.
It's true, some people will hit jackpot and make a lot of money during their careers. They will be able to spend big and have a lot left over. But for the rest of us, a little bit of saving can make us a lot wealthier than we are now. |
