TCP/IP 24seven description
Gary Govanus's TCP/IP is a guide to the ins and outs of one of the most widely used network protocols. If you're running an Internet connected network, you're going to be using TCP/IP, and you're going to have to know how it works. The book introduces the concepts behind building an IP-based network: from basic network theory to the use of IP addresses. You'll also learn how to implement DHCP to make managing your network's addresses more easy, and how to run a DNS system. There's also a good look at some of the security issues you'll need to consider.

Once you've learned the basics of IP networking, TCP/IP takes you into planning and implementing a network, including working with bridges and routers. Not only does it cover the technical details, it also considers the diplomacy and tact you'll need when taking over a new system administration role--it's not just the technology that matters here. Govanus also covers planning and project management.

This is a very practical book. It's not for the beginner, although you don't need to know a lot about TCP/IP before you pick it up. It's made all the more useful by the inclusion of real-world examples--from the experiences of both the author and other network administrators. --Simon Bisson, amazon.co.uk

♥♥♥♥♥ Excellent TCP/IP
I am the Technical Editor of this book. Gary did an incredible job. This book contains the clearest and most accurate description on subnetting I've ever seen. I felt the book was clear and sharp all the way through. The reason I am writing this review is because of the comments I have read. This is not a beginners book! It is written at the expert level. The only level higher than this book is a TCP/IP design book which includes enterprise TCP/IP supernetting and does not include things like DHCP and WINS. Gary did a terrific job and I am proud to be associated with this book. D Fuller A+,Net+,I-Net+,MCP,MCT,MCSE+I,CNA,CCNA
