| Unlike many zombie and end of the world novels and movies that gloss over the nitty gritty of what is happening around the world as it goes to hell so they can concentrate on a small group of survivors and off them one by one, World War Z takes a much more comprehensive approach. By interviewing survivors around the world and getting their personal stories, you get a much broader, more interesting picture of how things got bad, then worse, then started to turn around. The stylistic approach also allows a interspersing of horror and sadness and comic relief that helps sustain the reader. You can easily imagine how this could be put together into a really great movie. The style does begin to drag a bit, however, at times, but since each part is short, the reader is never discouraged from turning the page to see the next bit. Enjoyable. Fun. Scary. Sad. Best zombie book I can remember. Donald J. Bingle, Author of Forced Conversion. |
