Although I superficially enjoyed this book, and understand the lavish praise heaped upon it by other reviewers here, I am struck by the overarching theme of "white man as savior." While I recognize the cultural trope of "saving the world," I am more than slightly disturbed by the whole thing.

Absolutely amazing! I could not be prouder to say that I am a natralized American. I felt Marcas Latrells pain and anguish. I only hope that he can find peace in his survival, knowing how important it was that the truth be told and not screwed up by the media.
