I've been finding this volume a real joy to read. In the past, I've always found the Bible to be maddeningly dull and primitive (and yes, I am an Orthodox Jew). I was amazed at this internationally acclaimed tome. I have read only a small portion so far, and find it poorly written with many ill-defined references and many internal conflicts. I was also surprised at how much of it deals with punishment for disbelieving in its tenets, but the tenets were not very clearly defined.
