Interesting but Disappointing
|
| Deutsch is an interesting writer, and his thesis and its defense are superficially convincing. Unfortunately, in at least two cases important to that defense I remember enough about the subject matter (the Turing thesis, and Kuhn's work) to recognize that his interpretation is superficial, and therefore does not provide intended support for his assertions. This makes me wonder whether similar problems underlie the rest of his work. That is really too bad, as the book is readable and could help people to understand many of the important themes in current technology. |
