Interesting ideas, but...
|
| On the basis of the ideas contained in the book, it probably deserves 5 stars. PC set theory is still the dominant framework for teaching both undergraduates and graduates how to conceptualize and analyse atonal music. However, I have to give the book 2 stars simply because writing is so awful. Forte's prose is so and unwieldy that I sometimes read the book to help myself fall asleep at night. |
