| I read this book in 1979. It is an excellent book for someone who has some background in the history of the French Revolution and who already has a deep interest in the subject. It is not a good place to start. The book is well written and thorough. The author's discussion of his sources and how he did his research is especially interesting. The book concludes with a discussion of Babeuf as "The First Communist" and if this appalation is justified. |
